2023 Survey Has Closed
Thank you to all who participated in this year’s survey! We are currently working with NSSE to create reports for your responses. These reports help us better understand our students for future program and learning improvements. QU administers NSSE every two years. See you again in 2025!
Your Voice Can Make a Difference!
At Quincy University (QU) we want our students to have the best educational experience possible, and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) helps by providing vital information about activities in and out of the classroom. We want to know what you think of your undergraduate experience, the kinds of activities in which you engage, and how you are benefiting from your studies. QU will be administering the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) starting March 1, 2023 to first-year and senior undergraduate degree-seeking students. Your participation is critical. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to share information about your undergraduate experiences. Your voice can help make a difference in the future direction of Quincy University!
What is the NSSE (pronounced “nessie”)?
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about first-year and senior students’ participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. In addition, NSSE provides participating institutions reports that compare student responses to peer institutions. The NSSE project is governed by the Indiana University Bloomington IRB. Additional information be found by visiting About NSSE.
Who is surveyed?
The survey is designed to capture the experience of students who are at the beginning of their educational career, along with those who are nearing graduation. All first-year and senior undergraduate degree-seeking students are included in the NSSE population file.
Has QU participated in this survey before?
Yes. QU has participated in spring of 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2018, 2019 and now in 2023.
When and how will the survey be administered?
On March 1, 2023, eligible students will receive email invitations from NSSE with a customized link to the survey. Students can also access their survey link in the QU portal on the “NSSE Survey” tab. The survey is conveniently designed for mobile devices as well as desktop computers for smooth and easy completion. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Surveys responses must be submitted by May 14, 2023.
In appreciation for participating, we will enter all students who complete the survey by Monday, April 17, 2023 into a drawing for 1 of 10 Amazon gift cards worth $50 each. Your chances of winning depend on how many complete the survey; 485 students were invited to participate.
How are survey results used?
QU will use its NSSE data to identify aspects of the undergraduate experience inside and outside the classroom that can be improved through changes in policies and practices more consistent with good practices in undergraduate education. Aggregate results will be analyzed and shared with QU campus leaders to:
- support accreditation efforts
- identify additional areas for supporting student success
- evaluate policies and best practices related to the student experience
- support student retention efforts
- analyze comparison responses from other Catholic colleges and universities
- identify areas for program improvement
- make future assessment plans
